She says she can’t approve of what Char is doing, but perhaps she’s upset that she doesn’t have the complete resolve to stop him.
She was only able to fight so well this episode because she knew she wasn’t fighting Char. Does she just mean it in terms of piloting skills? Or, does she mean in terms of Amuro’s willingness to fight? Sayla’s own willingness to fight has been wavering. It’s an interesting line to ponder what she means. At the end of it, Sayla says that she wishes she was like Amuro. There’s another nice character moment of Sayla interacting with Amuro and asking him what she has to do in order to become a good pilot. He wants to defeat someone he holds in such high regard. It also helps explain why Amuro is always so eager to fight Char. It’s something Char and Amuro have in common: they both consider the other a worthy foe. When Amuro’s talking about the kind of opponent Char is, you can hear the admiration in his voice. There are a few interesting character beats this episode I’d like to touch on. Compared to the treatment Amuro got when he was first feeling off, it seems like the crew has started to take people’s emotions and exhaustion more into account. Everyone is concerned about Sayla and wants to make sure that she’s alright because they noticed how off she was last episode. It makes the battle quite satisfying to watch because it truly feels like everyone is participating.Įven Sleggar, shockingly enough, feels like he managed to slot right in to the team and is working pretty well with the rest of them.Īnother good example of teamwork is how everyone is reacting to Sayla after the events of last episode. The characters are shown to be reacting to what the others do, taking actions to cover for them, and communicate with each other during the battle to make the best possible next move. Sayla and Sleggar back up both Hayato and Kai multiple times. Sayla makes sure to tell Hayato that they need to coordinate with the others. I love all these moments in the battle that show the White Base crew working together.
And in this case, the dream is killing Zeons. Teamwork makes the dream work, as the saying goes. In fact, the whole crew is working together smoothly this episode. They’re working much more smoothly together now. Bright orders Amuro to only focus on the Musais while the others handle the mobile suits and Amuro does just that, brushing past the Doms and only engaging them when he’s forced to. I also noticed in this episode that Amuro goes along with Bright’s battle plan with no hesitation.
He’s constantly giving feedback to the crew and giving clear-cut directions, such as making sure that every pilot knows exactly what they need to focus on and accomplish during the battle and making sure that everyone has a clear target to fight. Bright’s also giving excellent orders throughout the battle.

Bright has by now gotten it down to a system of what to do at the start of a battle, what stations in the White Base need to be ready, and how to efficiently launch the mobile suits. The battle this episode is such a good example of how the White Base crew have gotten really proficient at fighting.įor starters, let’s look at Bright and his orders. I could have talked about this last episode, but I really wanted to bring it up here: look at how much the crew of the White Base has improved. It almost seems like the staff hated the design of it as well and wanted to get rid of it as soon as possible. And Char doesn’t give a shit about the fact that it was lost. It dies almost at the start of the episode. The giant demon head that shoots beams from its mouth. On today’s episode of Gundam: The Zakrello finally arrives! Say hello, everyone, to what I consider the stupidest mecha design in all of Gundam. They’re less previews and more “let’s just summarize the entirety of the next episode” and will spoil you. Wish it wouldn’t do that, but unfortunately it does…įirst-Timers: Please do not watch the next-episode previews for this show. Important thing to note about these by the way, you have to switch to Old Reddit or the markdown editor if you use the redesign, otherwise the redesign breaks them by adding random \ into the formatting. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you’re doing it underneath the (/s "Spoiler goes here") spoiler tags. Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this.
